You want your child to love Islam, to develop into a pious Muslim, to build a good connection with the Allah.
But what about you?
No Islamic season is short of fun lessons and activities. You enroll in a madrasa and hire a Quran teacher.
But what about you?
What activities and habits do you do regularly to increase your love of Islam? To develop your piety? To strengthen your connection with Allah?
Sometimes we get so caught up being spiritual guides for our children, that we end up getting lost in this wonderful world of tarbiya.
The irony is in us losing ourselves while trying to guide our precious sprouts.
As moms and teachers, we have a habit of putting ourselves last. Even when it comes to our deen. We get our children a Quran teacher, but not ourselves. We spend hours prepping and teaching a lesson during high spiritual seasons, and less time engaging in ibaadah or attending lessons ourselves. Our intention is a righteous one: we want our children to learn, love, and be Islam.
But here’s the thing, if you are not actively working on your spiritual development, your emaan is going to suffer.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
“Verily, the faith of one of you will wear out within him, just as a shirt becomes worn out, so ask Allah to renew faith in your hearts.”
Al-Mustadrak, Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani
Emaan (faith), according to the belief of Ahlul Sunnah wal Jama’a, is not stationary. It increases and decreases. So either you’re doing things to increase in emaan, or your emaan is slipping.
So the question is, how effective can you be as a spiritual guide, if you are not actively and intentionally developing your emaan?
Let me rephrase that question…
What is one act of worship you can commit to that will help increase your emaan and make you a more effective spiritual guide and teacher for you children?
To help you decide, I’ve created this funsheet that will walk you through a step-by-step process of selecting and committing to one act of worship you enjoy.
Download “Your Guide to Developing a Consistent Spiritual Habit” and watch the following video.
After you download your funsheet, watch the workshop (below) I did on Facebook Live called “The Importance of Spirituality and Tips of Developing it”
In this workshop, you’ll learn:
